ABOUT US
"Through the continuous agitation of confronted ideas, real and moving images burst out." This is the expectation of Dialect Pictures for themselves. We are committed to creating high-quality feature films and television works. With our unique skills, aesthetics, and rhythm, we hope that the audience can feel the emotion in the story we tell.
The company was founded by filmmakers who returned home after studying abroad and hoped to develop their feature film works. And in the near future, Dialect Pictures hope to become the creative base of independent film production in Taiwan and work with more filmmakers to explore authentic Taiwanese emotions and try newer image styles. Also, let each frame contains the unique smell of every corner of Taiwan, attracting more audiences to appreciate the Taiwanese emotions on the big screen.
Art Director
Po-Yu Chen
After acquiring his Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia University Film Program, majoring in Directing and Screenwriting, Po Yu now is back home, settling in Taipei.
Most of his works tend to observe the subtle emotions of urbanites. In addition to being interested in the motifs of urban alienation and floating alienation, Po-Yu also likes to explore contemporary Taiwanese social and environmental issues in different regions, including the immigrants, the survival pressure of young people, the gap between urban and rural areas, and changes in the natural environment.
He is currently developing a feature film script "Sunken South ", which tells the story of new residents in a southwestern coastal fishing village, who face conflicts between their beliefs and local traditions.
His work "Paint Again", "Happy Birthday to Me", and "Something in the Water" was nominated in many film festivals and also screened in the museum. He also received the 2018 Ministry of Education Scholarship for Overseas Study.
In addition to screenwriting and directing, he is also working as a film editor, videographer, and producer.
